Senate approves Hutchinson bill to expand Medical Officer Health Incentive program participation
Legislation by Sen. Scott Hutchinson, R-21, that would allow more participation in the Medical Officer Health Incentive Program was approved by the Senate on Tuesday.
Hutchinson was the main sponsor the Senate Bill 162, which provides tuition reimbursement to those who qualified through serving in the armed forces. The program was created as a solution to the lack of medical professionals in the National Guard.
“My legislation would clarify and expand the list of critical specialties for which there is a shortage in the Pennsylvania National Guard,” he said. “This legislation will only strengthen the program and allow for even more health professionals to take advantage of this opportunity.”
The bill now has to be considered by the House of Representatives.
