The Knights of Columbus Council 866 will host A Night of Magic for the Knights at 7 p.m. Jan. 21 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 234 E. North St.

The event will feature magic presentations by Tim Kutch.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children younger than 12 and $25 for families of four or more. Tickets are available at Miller's Shoes, Main St., or by calling 724-712-6339.

BUTLER TWP — Lifesteps will host free Child Check developmental screenings for children age 5 and younger from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday at Dutilh United Methodist Church, Dutilh Road, Cranberry Township.Each screening takes about 30 minutes and results will be discussed with parents immediately.Appointments are recommended. SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock University Dance Department will host the following dance classes for children on Saturdays from Jan. 21 to April 8.Creative dance for 3 and 4-year-olds, 9:30 to 10 a.m. Cost: $50.Creative dance for 5 and 6-year-olds, 10:15 to 11 a.m. Cost: $60.Tap and jazz for children ages 7 to 12, 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Cost: $70.Hip-hop, tap and jazz for children ages 9 to 12, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Cost: $70.Parents are not required to purchase costumes. BUTLER TWP — The Albert Gallatin Home Care and Hospice is seeking new hospice volunteers to visit patients, contact the grieving and assist in the office, with special projects and camps.Free training for new volunteers will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays beginning this week and continuing through Feb. 7 at the Butler Branch Office, 201 S. ALTOONA — Applications are now being accepted for the Miss Teen Pennsylvania International and Mrs. Pennsylvania International 2006 pageants to be held March 18 in Altoona.The teen pageant is open to women ages 13 to 18 and the Mrs. Pennsylvania pageant is open to married women ages 21 to 56.The winner of each pageant will receive prizes and advance to the national level pageants in July.Information and entry forms are available at www.missteenpennsylvania.us and www.mrspennsylvania.us.Entry forms, the $10 application fee and current photos are due Jan. 21.Notices, in writing, of festivals, fund-raising events, newly elected officers and other news from clubs and non-profit groups should be sent to the Focus department one week in advance of the event.
