The Butler Eagle is seeking stories on holiday traditions. The traditions can be ethnic practices passed from earlier generations or new traditions recently started.

MARS — AMars Framers Holiday Market will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Christian Community Church of Mars, Route 228 and Pittsburgh St.Held in the church's fellowship hall, the event will include the sale of plants, holiday decorations, jewelry, food items and gifts.

MARS — Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, will hold a Christmas cookie sale from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday and noon to 1 p.m. Sunday.Trays of four dozen assorted cookies will be sold. Orders can be placed by calling 724-538-8672.

A Threads for Pink charity fashion show will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Butler Senior High School Auditorium to benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.The event is planned by Dena Hutchinson, a Butler High School senior.

Harmony — A Christmas season Giving Tree has been set up in the Harmony Museum's yard to raise funds for museum improvements and activities.For a donation, community members will have their names placed on an ornament that will decorate the tree.This tree was donated by Robert and Susan Franz of Jackson Township.For information, call 724-452-7341. Monetary donations can be sent to Historic Harmony, Box 524, Harmony, PA 16037.

BUTLER TWP — Lifesteps will host free Child Check developmental screenings for children age 5 and younger from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at its Early Education Center, 325 New Castle Road, Building 69 at the Butler Veteran's Affairs Medical Center.Each screening takes about 30 minutes, and results will be discussed with parents immediately.Appointments are recommended. The American Legion Bantam Marine Detachment 743 is accepting enrollment for Toys for Tots in Butler, Armstrong, Clarion and Venango counties.Enrollment is open to families in need with children ages 14 and younger.For information, call 724-865-9852 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. Friday is the enrollment deadline.
