Writing workshop for children offered
Registration will open Saturday for the Butler Public Library's Children's Creative Writing Workshop. The 2008 session will begin in July and participants will meet once a month through the end of the year. The Children's Creative Writing Workshop is for children ages 7 to 12 and is free.

SLIPPERY ROCK — The Butler County Sheriff's Office and the Moraine Conservation and Sportsman's Association will hold a handgun safety class from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 21 at the Moraine Conservation and Sportsman's Club on Staff Road.Participants must be 21 or older and must bring eye and ear protection, baseball-type cap, crew neck shirt or bandana, a handgun and at least 50 rounds of ammunition.Call Chief Deputy Doug Hays at 724-284-5245 by June 6 to register.
