Butler Memorial Hospital Caring Angel program this year raised $71,000.Caring Angel helps provide emergency room care to children whose parents or guardians do not have insurance or the resources to pay.The program also helps families and children in need through educational, therapeutic and support services at Family Services of BMH and supports the BMH Recovery Project, a support group for recovering young addicts.Volunteers coordinated a Mass of Hope concert with Joe Negri, a Celebrity Wait at the Texas Roadhouse in Butler and North Country Brewing in Slippery Rock, and a basket auction.The hospital and several local businesses also sold paper angels to be presented in honor or in memory of special people.All four McDonald's restaurants in Butler covered their walls with their angel sales.———

The <B>Texas Roadhouse</B> on March 4 hosted a Butler County VIP Serve event, during which local VIPs volunteered time to raise money for Lifesteps.Volunteers and servers donated tips, which totaled $1,062.—Butler County EarlyBird Toastmaster <B>Jane Sherry</B> completed the second hurdle to becoming world champion of public speaking. She first won her EarlyBird Club speaking contest Feb. 14. She was again successful March 15 at the area 6 contest held in Farrell.The division contest will be held April 18 in Gibsonia on Jake's on the Green inside Pittsburgh National Golf Club. There will be contestants from Butler, Beaver, Allegheny, Erie, Warren, Crawford and Venango counties competing for the title.———
