A. Martin Marburger, dairy farm owner
A. Martin Marburger, 92, of Butler, formerly of Evans City, passed away Sunday morning in the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born June 23, 1918, in Evans City, he was the son of the late Adam C. and Georgia McCandless Marburger.
Mr. Marburger was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Evans City.
He had owned and operated the Marburger Farm Dairy, retiring as the president.
A graduate of Evans City High School, he attended Penn State University, graduating in 1940. He belonged to the Penn State Alumni Association. He also enjoyed attending Penn State Football games.
He belonged to Western Pennsylvania Dairy Association and the Butler Farm Bureau. He was on the board of directors of Titusville Dairy and the Mid-East Advertising Board.
Mr. Marburger enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Tri-County Golf League for 30 years. He also was a member of the Monday Nite Bowling League.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jennie M. Pearson Marburger, on Aug. 24, 1980; and by three sisters, two brothers and a great-granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife, Claire L. Mayer Marburger, who he married Dec. 8, 1983; two daughters, Rita (Richard) Reifenstein of Evans City and Marge (Garrie) Wearing of Renfrew; a son, James M. (Pat) Marburger of Evans City; a sister, M. Catherine “Katie” Marburger of Zelienople; two stepdaughters, Lynn (Jay) Shaffer of Butler and Lori (Greg) Wilson of Pittsburgh; four grandchildren, Craig Marburger, Carrie (Jim) Robb, Kurt Wearing and Todd (Danielle) Wearing; five step-grandchildren, Bradley (Leanne) Shaffer, Lindsey Shaffer, Bethany Wilson, Rick (Ami) Reifenstein and Chris (Brooke) Reifenstein; and four step-great-grandchildren.
<B>MARBURGER</B> — Relatives and friends of A. Martin Marburger, who died Sunday, April 3, 2011, will be received at the <B>A. Carl Kinsey-Ronald N. Volz Funeral Home</B>, 328 W. Main St., Evans City, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. from St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Evans City.
