Mary Gallagher
Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Gallagher, 87, of Butler passed away at 11 a.m. Monday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Sept. 1, 1927, in Butler to the late Herbert L. Wilson and Mary (Klee) Wilson.
Betty was a homemaker and a member of the Grace@Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church, the ladies auxiliary of the VFW Post 249 and the American Legion Post 778 of Lyndora. She enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, bingo and going to casinos.
Betty is survived by one son, Donald C. Gallagher Jr. and his wife, Luella, of Butler; four daughters, Paula Monteleone and her husband, Dominick, of Butler, June Feder and her husband, Harold, of Butler, Donna Cipolla of Mentor, Ohio, and Vickie McConnell and her husband, Richard, of Butler; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald C. Gallagher, who she married Sept. 5, 1954, and who passed away March 18, 1984; one sister; three brothers; one step-grandson; and her companion of 30 years, James Hemphill.
GALLAGHER — Friends of Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Gallagher, who died Monday, March 30, 2015, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Tara R. Lynn of the Grace@Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will take place in the Butler County Memorial Park.Officers and members of the ladies auxiliary of the VFW Post 249 of Butler will conduct a service at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday.Memorials are suggested to the Lifesteps, Inc.
