Child Check slated for Jan. 25The Lifesteps’ Child Check team will conduct a free screening from 9 a.m. to noon Jan. 25 at Lifesteps Butler County Program Center, 383 New Castle Road.A Child Check visit takes about 30 minutes, and the results are discussed immediately with the parents.The screening evaluates the child’s development in playing, talking, seeing, hearing, moving and thinking.Appointments are recommended. Old books upcycled to craftsSAXONBURG — The Friends of the Library for the South Butler Community Library, 240 W. Main St., will host a series of monthly sessions to make upcycled crafts from old books. A different craft will be made each month from January to November.The first sessions will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the library.For the following months, the events will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. every third Tuesday and from 1 to 2:30 p.m. every third Thursday at the library.Supplies for the class are free.To sign up for a class and for more information, call 724-352-4810 or visit www.southbutlerlibrary.org.Notices of local upcoming news should be received by the Community Department one week in advance of the event.
