Francis W. Walton

Francis W. Walton, 84, of Butler passed away Friday at VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.

Born Sept. 30, 1933, in Alexandria, Va., he was a son of the late Cecilia Lanigan Walton Zettle.

He was employed as a Pennsylvania State Trooper. He retired as a lieutenant in 1993, following 35 years of service. He also was a graduate of the FBI National Academy.

He was a member of St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church in Butler, where he served as a lector.

He was a recipient of the Manifestation of the Kingdom Award and was a member of the Pennsylvania State Police Fraternal Order of Police. He was a lifetime member of Elks Lodge 170, the Moose and the Knights of Columbus in Butler.

He enjoyed hunting at his camp in Emporium, Pa., and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and his grandchildren.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.

Surviving are his wife, Mitzie Robbins Walton, whom he married May 20,1961; his two daughters, Linda (Ted) Nisbett of South Carolina and Kathy (C.D.) Coll of Bridgeville, Pa.; his son, Gregory (Deborah) Walton of Cranberry Township; nine grandchildren, Ted, Heidi and Allyson Nisbett, Anne, Zoe and Francis Walton, Cecilia, Megan and Maggie Coll; his sister, Eileen (Homi) Cooper of Florida; and his two brothers, Terrence (Marge) Walton of Texas and Elmer (Elizabeth) Zettle of Florida. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Walton; a brother, James Zettle; and a brother-in-law, Edgar Damico.

WALTON — Friends of Francis W. Walton, who died Friday, April 20, 2018, will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Geibel FuneRal Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler. A Fraternal Order of Police service will be held at the funeral home during Sunday night visitation.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday from St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, 1660 N. Main St., Butler. The Rev.
