PITTSBURGH — A Pittsburgh mall owner has settled a lawsuit by a woman who claims lax security led to her abduction from the mall's parking lot and subsequent rape.

J.J. Gumberg Co. settled the lawsuit Tuesday before the trial of the lawsuit could begin. An Allegheny County judge says the terms are sealed at the request of both sides.

Thirty-year-old Jimmy Lee Tayse, of Johnstown, is serving 67 years to life in prison for abducting the woman from the parking lot of the Waterworks Mall in April 2007 then raping and robbing her in Ohio. The woman's 16-month-old child was with her at the time.

Gumberg's attorneys say the company has increased security since the attack. The company had previously challenged the woman's right to pursue the lawsuit anonymously.

Gumberg also operates the Clearview Mall in Center Township and Cranberry Mall in Cranberry Township.
