PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Susan Robinson Fruchtl, who earned a master’s of education degree in secondary guidance and counseling from Slippery Rock University in 1999, has been named head women’s basketball coach at Providence College.
Robinson Fruchtl had been coach at St. Francis University the past five years, winning three successive conference titles.
She had also spent eight years as a women’s basketball assistant coach at Penn State.
6 area hoopsters in all-star gamesCLARION — Six area basketball players will be competing in the 12th annual Clarion County YMCA “Sportsmanship I” Senior All-Star Basketball Games Saturday night at Clarion High School.The girls game is at 6 p.m., the boys game at 7:30 p.m.Union’s Sierra Smith, A-C Valley’s Tricia Kerlin, Moniteau’s Katie Brehm and Amanda Sloan will play in the girls game, Union’s Taylor Smith and Brody Pollock in the boys game.Union’s Karen Davis will coach the Blue squad in the boys game.
Snodgrass, Maxfield in all-star eventsSenior point guards Nate Snodgrass of Butler and Alex Maxfield of Seneca Valley will play in the 17th annual Hoops for a Cure basketball all-star game at 6:15 p.m. Saturday at Chartiers Valley High School.Butler’s Matt Clement will coach their team, which will include Luke Hagy of Mt. Lebanon, Lincoln Davis of Central Catholic, Wayne Capers of Chartiers Vallery, J.C. Howard of North Allegheny and Steve Hearty of North Hills, among others.Snodgrass will also play in the RoundballClassic April 21 at Geneva College. The Class AAAA vs. AAA game will begin at 8 p.m.
