John A. Weibel

John A. Weibel, 85, of East Brady died Saturday at VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.

Born in Butler on July 19, 1928, he was the son of Eugene J. and Marjorie E. (Hile) Weibel.

John was a 1946 graduate of East Brady High School and a graduate of the Oil City Business School. John spent his career as a professional land surveyor with his family business.

A U.S. Army veteran, John served as a corporal during the Korean War. He was a recipient of the Korean Service Medal with 1 Bronze Service Star and the United Nations Service Medal.

On May 31, 1957, he married the former Dawn Painter, who survives.

John was a member of the St. Eusebius Roman Catholic Church, where he sang in the choir.

He was a talented pianist who could play by ear. He also was a member of Wid Verner's Orchestra.

Surviving is his wife, Dawn Weibel of East Brady; his four daughters, Kim Murphy and her husband, Kerry, of Fredonia, N.Y., Kelly Ardoin and her husband, Brett, of Pittsboro, N.C., Kristin Kinkela and her husband, Mark, of East Brady and his daughter by choice, Hope Ford and her husband, Steve, of Odessa, Texas; his three sons, Kevin Weibel and his wife, Stephanie, of St. George, Utah, Kerry Weibel and his wife, Sue, of Chicora, and Michael Weibel and wife, Sheila, of Leesburg, Va.; 13 grandchildren, Ashley (Justin) Amos, Justin Weibel, Bonnie Weibel, Kerrin Murphy, Kelsey Weibel, John Murphy, Hayden Weibel, Cooper Shepard, Lydia Weibel, William Michael Weibel, Julianne Weibel, Aaron Kinkela and Alex Kinkela, and his two great-grandchildren, Christopher Amos and Aadalyn Kinkela. He also is survived by his brother, James E. Weibel and his wife, Mary, of Lancaster, Pa.; his two sisters, Margaret Jane Dolmovich of Manassas, Va., and Janet E. Wright and her husband, Keith, of East Brady; his sister-in-law, Kay Weibel of East Brady, and many nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents; his two brothers, Daniel and Thomas; his daughter, Karin Lin, and his grandson, Christopher Ardoin.

WEIBEL — A memorial Mass for John A. Weibel, who died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Eusebius Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. William Kuba officiating.
