Richard E. Moore
Richard E. “Dick” Moore, 75, of Olive Street, Karns City, passed away Thursday morning at his home following an extended illness.
Dick was born on July 18, 1939, in Chicora. He was the son of the late John L. and Ruth Garing Moore.
He was a 1958 graduate of Fairview Township Karns City High School. Dick was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army.
He retired in 2001 following 42 years of service at the Witco Chemical Co. in Petrolia.
Dick enjoyed telling stories, especially about his time spent in the Army. Dick enjoyed the company of his children and grandchildren. They were the pride and joy and the light of his life.
Richard is survived by his wife of 49 years, Marlene Pyle Moore, who he married on Jan. 29, 1966, in Petrolia. Also surviving are three children, Bridget Johnson and her husband, Arthur, of Bryan, Texas, Renay White of LaCrosse, Wis., and Jason Moore and his wife, April, of Butler; 12 grandchildren, Michael Johnson, Natascha Dunn, Brian Johnson, Bryce Johnson, Levi Moore, Brittani Moore, Ian Talbot, Amber Moore, Michelle Moore, Seana Moore, Danyelle Moore and Eli Moore; four great-grandchildren, Jeromiah, Ayden, Camryn and Addison Dunn; one brother, John W. Moore and his wife, Phyllis, of Petrolia; one sister, Darlene Hildebrand and her husband, Robert, of Petrolia; a number of nieces, nephews, cousins; a sister-in-law and a brother-in-law.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Judy Brothers, and one grandson, Sean W. Moore.
MOORE — Friends of Richard E. “Dick” Moore, who died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015, will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Karns City, 128 Main St., Karns City, from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 2 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday.A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jerry Pyle, associate pastor of the Chicora Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, officiating.Interment with full military honors provided by the Chicora and Bradys Bend American Legion and Chicora VFW posts will be at Bear Creek Cemetery, Petrolia.Memorial contributions in Mr. Moore's name may be made to the Petrolia Volunteer Fire Department Ambulance Service, P.O.
