SRU baseball wins 6th in row
SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University's baseball team extended its winning streak to six Sunday with an 8-5, 13-12 doubleheader sweep of Frostburg State at Critchfield Park.
Abraham Mow delivered the walk-off hit in the eighth inning of the nightcap for The Rock (6-1). Mow had four hits, a home run and scored three runs on the day.
His home run was the 19th of his SRU career, tying him for 10th on the program's all-time list.
Jon Kozarian had five hits in seven at-bats, connecting for a home run, three RBI and two doubles. Through seven games this season, he leads the PSAC West with a .591 batting average.
Connor Hamilton extended his hitting streak to 15 games, going 5-for-7 with three doubles and four runs scored. Alex Robenolt had four hits and five RBI.
Slippery Rock High graduate Ricky Mineo started Game 1, allowing three runs on five hits while striking out 10. He won for the second time in as many starts.
Frostburg State (2-6) battled back from a 10-1 deficit to force extra innings in Game 2. Andy McClymonds struck out four in 1.2 innings of relief to get the win.
SRU banged out 21 hits in the second game.
The Rock closes out its non-conference portion of the schedule with a four-game series against Clarion Friday and Saturday at Critchfield Park. First pitch of the doubleheaders are scheduled for 1 p.m.
