Slippery Rock High School graduate Melissa Sopher and Freeport grad Lacey Cochran are two of 12 Slippery Rock University track and field athletes who are heading to the NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Charlotte, N.C.

Sopher, a senior, and Cochran, a sophomore advanced on The Rock's 1,600-meter relay team.

Andi Rose, also a member of the 1,600-meter relay team, will go to the NCAA meet in the 100- and 400-meter hurdles as well as the relay.

Rose's time in the 100-meter hurdles is the third fastest in the nation.

Jessica Sackin (1,600 relay), Holly Whoolery (5,000-meter run), Jenny Kirsch (long jump), Jennifer Hansen (pole vault) and Jennifer Harpp (5,000) round out the female qualifiers.

On the men's side, Paul Schwab (decathlon), Nate Hardic (javelin), Jeff Weiss (10,000-meter run), and Patrick Reagan (5,000) will compete in the NCAA meet, which will be held May 24-26.
