Sarah M. Hinton Herrock

Sarah M. Hinton Herrock, 82, of Butler passed away Thursday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice, Butler.

Born on Feb. 25, 1933, in Riverton, La., she was a daughter of the late Eddie Howard and Mary Florence Leveritt Hinton.

She retired as a secondary education teacher. She had worked for various school districts.

Following her retirement from teaching, she was active in journalism, where she did editing for the Zelienople newspaper. She also worked in public relations for the Big Butler Fair, along with many community activities.

She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and reading.

Surviving are her son, John E. (Lisa) Herrock of Louisiana; her two daughters, Gretchen E. Herrock of Pittsburgh and Sharon A. Herrock of Butler; her four grandchildren, Caitlin, Emma, Olivia, and Owen Herrock, and her numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Herrock, who passed away on Feb. 20, 2011, and her brother, Marshall Hinton.
