D’Asia Chambers made the most of her debut with the Slippery Rock University women’s basketball team, scoring 16 points and adding 11 rebounds to lead The Rock to a 62-57 overtime win over Notre Dame College of Ohio Wednesday night.

Chambers hit a jumper with 10 seconds remaining in regulation to tie the game.

Jasmine Cooper also had a double-double for SRU (3-7) with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Crosby still out of Penguin lineupPITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Penguins star Sidney Crosby is participating in light exercise but remains sidelined indefinitely with concussion-like symptoms.Crosby hasn't played since Dec. 5 and hasn't practiced in three weeks after getting jostled in a 3-1 loss to the Boston Bruins. Coach Dan Bylsma said Wednesday that Crosby is dealing with lingering symptoms and isn't sure when he'll return.

DAVIE, Fla. — Linebacker Jason Taylor is retiring after this season, his 15th in the NFL and his 13th with the Miami Dolphins.Taylor leads all active players with 139 1/2 sacks and is sixth on the sixth career list. He also has six fumble returns for touchdowns, an NFL record.He'll conclude his career Sunday against the New York Jets.Taylor made the Pro Bowl six times, spending much of his career at end before switching to linebacker. He has had three stints with the Dolphins, who drafted him in the third round in 1997. Taylor also played for the Redskins in 2008, and helped the Jets reach the AFC championship game in 2010.<B>Phillips returns to practice field</B>HOUSTON — Texans defensive coordinator Wade Phillips returned to the practice field, two weeks after kidney and gall bladder surgery. The 64-year-old Phillips went on medical leave Dec. 14. Linebackers coach Reggie Herring ran the defense in his absence, and the Texans lost their next two games.<B>Red Sox trade for Oakland closer</B>BOSTON — New manager Bobby Valentine found his new man for the back end of the Boston bullpen when the Red Sox obtained All-Star closer Andrew Bailey and outfielder Ryan Sweeney from the Oakland Athletics for outfielder Josh Reddick, infield prospect Miles Head and minor league pitcher Raul Alcantara.In the deal, first reported by ESPN, the 27-year-old Bailey gives the Red Sox a reliable ninth-inning guy to replace the departed Jonathan Papelbon, who signed with Philadelphia as a free agent in November.
