Richard “Dick” Green, 82, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023.

He was born at home in Carbon Center on March 20, 1940, and was the son of the late Clarence and Sara (Smith) Green.

Richard attended Keck School and Butler High School.

He then went on to serve his country honorably in the U.S. Army.

He worked for United Telephone for 45 years until his retirement.

He was known for being an extremely hard worker, selfless, a great husband, father and granddad, and an excellent friend.

Richard was a founding member of the Happy Hunters Club. He also was active in American Legion Post 117 and East Butler Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed pitching horseshoes, farming and stock cars.

Richard was the father of Curtis (Lauren) Green and Jennifer (David) Dressing; brother of Patricia Fair, Lenny (Julie) Green and Larry Green; and the grandfather of Kensington, August, London, Cade and Creed.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Eleanor (Motko) Green, who passed away in 2000.

GREEN — Family and friends of Richard “Dick” Green, who died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023, will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler.

A prayer service will immediately follow in the funeral home.

Burial will be held privately.
