The Butler Catholic seventh- and eighth-grade boys basketball team won the annual Cardinal Wright Thanksgiving Holiday Tournament recently.

Butler Catholic won all five of its games to win the 12-team event. John Barkus was tournament MVP while Harry Leyland and Rob Swartwout coached the team.

Other players include Bobby Swartwout, Vinny Schmidt, Sam Cleary, Billy Smith, Corbin Seezox, Joey Friel, Michael Connelly, Josh Dymun, Philip Kletzli, Michael Schneck and Joe Holefelder.

The Sarver-based FCAGems competed in the 2006 Universal Cheerleading Association Regionals Sunday at Slippery Rock University's Morrow Field House.Eight FCAGems squads won their respective divisions. The Sapphires won High Point for level 2, Citrines for level 3, Diamonds for level 5.The FCAGems will compete Saturday in the Jamfest Cheerleading Masters at the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh.
