William E. Mizik

William Mizik

William E. Mizik of Fredonia passed away unexpectedly Sunday surrounded by his family and close friends.

Bill always left quite an impression and laughter was found wherever he went. He often could be seen around town in casual dress on his way to work, to be with friends or to play his guitar with his band “Llib Kizim.”

Bill enjoyed being active outdoors and sponsored a softball team “The Couch Potatoes,” never missing a game. He wasn't interested in material items, but greatly enjoyed golf, boating, canoeing, hunting, camping and hanging out with his friends. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW.

Bill loved to travel and enjoyed the annual family vacation to Oak Island, N.C. He also traveled extensively for pleasure and loved his time in Las Vegas.

His family and friends always will remember Bill for his upbeat and quirky sense of humor, generous nature and dedication to family and friends. His talent for pulling off the perfect prank at the perfect time also will be remembered by his family and friends. His unique personality will be missed greatly by many.

He was born in Allegheny County on July 25, 1948, to William J. Mizik and Elizabeth (Betty) Mizik.

Bill graduated from Butler High School in 1966 and then joined the U.S. Air Force.

Leaving the service in 1970, he started his own construction and plumbing business. He was the owner and operator of “The Sewer Guy” in Mercer. Bill also worked for the Federal Emergency Management Agency for a number of years, traveling to natural disaster areas doing damage assessments and helping people regain their homes or find new housing after being displaced.

Bill was also the co-owner of Mizik and Mizik Rentals in Mercer and the previous co-owner of the former Page's Pub and Grill.

He was a Catholic and generous by nature as many people have experienced. As an extension of his generosity, he was an organ donor and donated various organs after his passing.

Bill is survived by his brother, John W. Mizik and his wife, Ruth, of Mercer; his nieces, Susan Roche and her husband, Mike, of Cortland, Ohio, and Casey Sedon and her husband, Dave, of New Brighton; and his five great-nieces and nephew, Andy, Libby and Caroline Roche and Lyndsey and Allison Sedon. Bill also is survived by his loving companion, Tonya Roe, and his good friend and co-worker, Pat Cobey.

His parents preceded him in death.
