The Slippery Rock University women's tennis team shut out Kutztown 5-0 Thursday in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional semifinals at Bloomsburg University.

The Rock (22-4) was scheduled to face Bloomsburg this morning for the regional title and a berth in the NCAA quarterfinals.

Bloomsburg shut out Virginia State 5-0 in the other regional semifinal.

The SRU doubles teams of Kayla Blackburn and Jessica Hilborn, Laura Handy and Chelsea Gibson, and Lara Rizzi and Casey Runyan picked up wins Thursday.

SRU sophomore Shardea Croes was named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District team.Croes batted .321 with 26 hits, 10 RBI and 15 runs scored. She stole nine bases in 10 attempts. Academically, she carries a 3.79 grade-point average as an exercise science major.
