Rachel Young
Rachel Joan Young, 90, of Butler, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2023, at St. John Specialty Care Center in Mars.
She was born on Dec. 9, 1932, in Cherry Township, and was the daughter of the late Lawrence John Gardner and Mary Ada (Hockenberry) Gardner Thompson.
Rachel was a member of Graceway Community Church.
She worked at Harts, Thompson’s Market, Miller Shoe Store and the funeral home. She enjoyed painting, gardening, canning, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and, most of all, cooking for her family.
Surviving are her son, William F. (Cynthia) Young III of West Sunbury; her daughters, Monica (Vic) Campagna of Butler and Robin (Arney) Christy of West Sunbury; her granddaughters, Jodi Campagna (Liam) Brennan of Mars, Cori Christy (Owen) Brown of Mars, Courtney Burgoon of York and Carol (Jim) Callender of Butler; her grandsons, Tad (Laura) Campagna of Slippery Rock and Cole William Christy of West Sunbury; and 11 great-grandchildren, Lainey, Eden, Brady, Fred, Elle, Corey, Kailey, Kelsey, Jameson, Nolan and Adrian; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her former husband, William “Digger” Young Jr.; her parents; her stepfather, Robert Thompson; her three brothers, Chuck, Dewey and Lawrence John Gardner; and her two sisters, Dora Wick and Marion Salivonchik.
YOUNG — Visitation for Rachel Joan Young, who died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2023, will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Thursday at YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, with her pastor, David West, officiating.
Private burial will be held in West Sunbury Union Cemetery.
