Flora Lucille Mellish, 101, of East Brady in Sugarcreek Township, passed away Friday, Feb. 10, 2023, at Quality Life Services Sugarcreek.

She was born March 14, 1921, in Sugarcreek Township, a daughter of Ida Mae (Kamerer) and Thomas McClure.

She was a devoted mother and a devoted wife of Paul Mellish, who passed away in 2017 at the age of 102. They had been married for 79 years. Flora and Paul were married at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Sugarcreek Township. All of their children also were baptized and married there.

Flora and Paul were the parents of three children, Barbara (Ronald) Jack of Cowansville, Paula (Alan) Claypoole of Meadville and David (Marge) Mellish of West Virginia; and the grandparents of many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Flora was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings, Robert (Peg) McClure, Thomas “Ab” (Mary) McClure, Ruth (Jim) Atkinson, Dorothy (George) Atkinson, Mona (Ted) Hegburg and Raymond (Pat) McClure.

She also was preceded in death by one great-grandchild.

Flora was a charter member of the Sugarcreek Township Ladies Auxiliary. Flora and her sister, Mona, baked and donated Flora’s lamb cakes to finance their venture.

She will be remembered for her wonderful meals, which she served to all who entered her home. No one left until they had something to eat. Flora was loved by all who knew her.

MELLISH — Friends of Flora Lucille Mellish, who died Friday, Feb. 10, 2023, were received from 1 p.m. until the time of funeral services at 4 p.m. Sunday at SNYDER-CRISSMAN FUNERAL HOME in Cowansville.

Burial followed at Oak Grove Cemetery in Chicora.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sugarcreek Volunteer Fire Department or the Ladies Auxiliary at 110 Rodgers Road, East Brady, PA 16028.
