Betty Altmire Conterno
Betty Altmire Conterno, 87, formerly of Butler, passed away Friday at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, W.Va.
Born Jan. 20, 1925, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late William and Margaret Smith Altmire.
She was a member of the St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Butler. Betty worked at Penn Champ in East Butler for 25 years. She was a lifetime member of the Tanglewood Senior Center and a volunteer for Katie's Kitchen.
She is survived by two daughters, Paula Shriver and her husband, Jon, of Bridgeport, W.Va., and Lina Atkinson of Langhorne, Pa. Surviving grandchildren are Holly Hodge and her husband, Greg, of Lexington, Ky., Shari Shriver of Quiet Dell, W.Va., Heather Berland and her husband, Evan, of Philadelphia and Tegan Atkinson and her fiancé, Daniel Johnson, of Langhorne, Pa.
Surviving great-grandchildren are Parker and Landon Hodge of Lexington, Ky., and Noah Berland of Philadelphia. She also is survived by several nieces and nephews. Betty especially enjoyed her visits with her niece, Donna Esper.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Conterno, who passed away in 1980; seven brothers; and two sisters. Betty was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
CONTERNO — Friends of Betty Altmire Conterno, who passed away Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler, from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service on Wednesday with the Rev.
