'Agrarian Icons' Opening reception Friday at ArtWorks
GROVE CITY — Grove City ArtWorks will host the opening of “Agrarian Icons Works in Progress” by Christen Yates with a reception from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the gallery at 222 S. Broad St.
Guests can meet the artist, enjoy wine and hors d’oeuvres and mingle with other art lovers.
Yates’ new series of artwork features oil with gold and silver leaf on board, and the works play with questions of immanence and transcendence, connection and loss.
The works were inspired by her family’s farm near the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia.
Yates lives and paints in Grove City with her husband, Christopher, and their four children.
Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays.
Each month, ArtWorks hosts a First Friday exhibit opening featuring a variety of artists.
Upcoming events include:
“Who Does She Think She Is?” followed by discussion. The documentary by Academy Award-winning producer Pamela Tanner Boll features five women who navigate problematic intersections: parenting and creativity, partnering and independence, economics and art, at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
An Evening of Poetry & Jazz, featuring Philip Terman, Mark DeWalt and Musical Friends, 8 p.m. May 9, $10 at the door or $8 for students and members.
All Grove City Arts Members party, 7 p.m. May 29.
