Carol Hoover

Carol A. Hoover, 72, of Butler passed away Friday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Dec. 17, 1940, in Butler, she was the daughter of Merle and Alberta Dreher Freehling.

Carol was a homemaker and was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church in Sarver.

She is survived by her daughter, Lori (Wesley) Bortmas of Butler; her siblings, Harold “Teny” Freehling of Saxonburg, Audley Freehling of Massachusetts, Violet Stewart of North Washington, Glenn Freehling of Saxonburg, Phyllis Moore of Petrolia and Janet Shannon of Ohio; sister-in-law, Arlene Stevenson of Butler; three granddaughters, Brianna Hoover of Butler, Samantha Bortmas of Butler and Mackenzie Bortmas of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Larry Hoover; longtime companion, John Sloboda; daughter, Michelle Hoover; brother, Donald Freehling; one infant brother; and one great-grandson.

HOOVER — Friends of Carol A. Hoover, who passed away Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Fox Funeral Home, Saxonburg.Funeral services will follow at 7:30 p.m. with the Rev.
