John Stephen Spisak Sr.

John Stephen Spisak Sr., 92, of Slippery Rock Township passed away Tuesday at UPMC Presbyterian.

John was born on Dec. 26, 1922, in Clairton, Allegheny County, to Andrew Spisak and Mary Baran Spisak. He married Deborah Arlene McMillion on June 1, 1968.

John was employed as a mill wright and mechanic, and he repaired cranes for J & L Steel.

He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran.

His hobbies included woodworking and carving. He enjoyed making airplanes, little horses and windmills among other items.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah; two sons, John E Spisak Jr. of Slippery Rock and Shenan (Jodi) of Butler; three daughters, Starlene “Star” (Chris) Kartes of Mukwonago, Wis., Lisa Nipper of Punta Gorda, Fla., and Lorlene (James) Myers of Evans City.; his sister Margaret Spisak of Slippery Rock; four grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Loren.

SPISAK — The family of John Stephen Spisak Sr., who died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2015, will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home.Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, with theRev James Lewis of Butler will preside.Interment will be in Slippery Rock Cemetery.
