Smith

Meade F. Smith, 84, of Cumberland Crossing Manor, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2023.

Born in New Kensington, he was one of seven children and was the son of the late Meade F. and Roselyn (Koziura) Smith.

Meade graduated from Allegheny High School in 1957, and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Carnegie Mellon University.

He worked for 35 years for Bell Telephone and Verizon.

Meade was also a former member of St. Teresa of Avila-Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Ross Township, and most recently was a parishioner of St. Ferdinand Catholic Church-Divine Grace Parish in Cranberry Township.

Meade was a devoted father and family man. He had a booming voice that caught everyone’s attention in the room. He was also well-known for his famous “Pappy-isms,” such as, “Bad days are what make the good days good.” In his free time, he loved to golf and enjoyed cheering on the Steelers. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Patricia A. (Leahy) Smith; his children, Cindy (Rob) Hindle, Cheryl (Randy) Kahn, Meade Smith, Chris (Dan) Williams, Cathy (Rob) Vollmer, Matthew (Jen) Smith and Marty (Carolyn) Smith; his grandchildren, Caitlin (Chase) Routten, Justin Hindle, Judy Kahn, Ray Kahn, Aaron (Christie) Smith, Danny Williams, Lauren Williams, Macrina Vollmer, Jackson Vollmer, Jeffrey Smith, Ryan Smith, Mason Smith, Bridget Smith, Abbey Smith and Ben Smith; his great-grandchild, Harley Smith; his sisters, Carole McAllister, Beverly Smith, Patricia Gail Smith and Deborah Gutierrez; his sister-in-law, Barbara Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Meade was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Smith; and his brother-in-law, Chuck McAllister.

SMITH — Friends of Meade F. Smith, who died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2023, will be received from noon until 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at BOYLAN-GLENN-KILDOO FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Township.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church-Divine Grace Parish, 2535 Rochester Road, Cranberry Township.

Meade will be laid to rest at St. Gregory Catholic Cemetery in Zelienople.

Memorial donations may be made in his honor to St. Ferdinand Catholic Church-Divine Grace Parish, 2535 Rochester Road, Cranberry Township, PA 16066.
