Loretta Carole Rowan

Loretta Carole Rowan, 81, of Buffalo Township went home to be with the Lord on Monday surrounded by her family at Allegheny Valley Hospital in Natrona Heights.

Carole was born June 19, 1934, in Greensburg, Pa. She was the daughter of the late George R. and Mayme Bartony Bowser. She was the widow of Homer Clair Rowan, who passed away May 18, 2015.

Carol was a longtime member of the Lighthouse Fellowship Center in Sarver.

She had worked at Duco Ceramics in Saxonburg for 25 years, retiring in 1999. She also had worked as a nurse's aid at Allegheny Valley Hospital before starting her family.

She was a member of the Ship of Joy Ministries, the Monroe Women's Club and had taught Bible study to the youth at her church. Carol enjoyed wedding planning. She would organize, decorate and make beautiful cakes for the weddings she worked on. Carol also enjoyed flower arranging, baking cookies and cakes and sewing. She was also a beautiful singer and a wonderful mother.

Carole is survived by five daughters, Tina K. (Phillip) Babinsack of Buffalo Township, Lucinda M. (Joseph) Thompson of Buffalo Township, Kathleen E. Rowan of Buffalo Township, Judith D. (Kenneth) Edinboro of Butler and Joy L. Caporali of Buffalo Township; her three sons, Jesse C. (Debbie) Rowan of Buffalo Township, Ernest T. (Donna) Rowan of Virginia, Minn., and John M. (Carrie) Rowan of Punxsutawney, Pa.

She also is survived by 30 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; her brother, George R. Bowser of Beaver, Pa.; and her sister, Darlene Monte of East Palestine, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Michael Rowan; and her great-granddaughter, Scarlett Anastasia Thompson.

ROWAN — Family and friends of Loretta Carole Rowan, who died Monday, Feb. 29, 2016, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Redmond Funeral Home, 524 High St., in FreeportFuneral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Lighthouse Fellowship Center on Parker Road in Sarver.
