Wayne Cooper Jr.

Cooper

On Tuesday afternoon, Wayne H. Cooper Jr. peacefully transitioned to his heavenly home surrounded by his family after facing several health issues.

Wayne was born in Brimfield, Ohio, on Oct. 23, 1934, and eventually moved with the family to Fombell, at the age of six where he lived on “the farm.”

He served two years in the U.S. Navy as a radar specialist on the USS Intrepid.

For many years, his day started with milking cows and then going to work at Billco Manufacturing in Zelienople, until he retired in 1996. Over the last 45 years, he followed his passion of farm toys, especially pedal tractors, and was inducted into the Toy Farmer Hall of Fame in 2010. He restored nearly one thousand pedal tractors. Wayne conducted kids’ pedal pulls for years as far away as Anchorage, Alaska. Wayne was a standard fixture at the Portersville Steam Show Association. He could be found at the Trading Post log cabin that he restored with his sons.

Wayne was preceded in death by his grandson, Brandon Cooper; his granddaughter, Amber Lucas; his brother, “Jack” Cooper; and his son, Mark Cooper.

Surviving family include his wife of 64 years, Shirley A. Cooper; his children, Greg (Marcy) Cooper of Fombell, Ben (Sonia) Cooper of Hyndman, Pa.; his brother, Samuel (Cindy) Cooper; five grandsons; two granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
