Dorothy Mae (Macurdy) Parker
Dorothy Mae (Macurdy) Parker went to be with the Lord at 11:30 p.m. Friday after a long and joyful life.
She was born in Sarver on March 1, 1920, to the late Vincent M. and Annastasia (Davis) Macurdy.
Dorothy's final years were spent at Elmcroft of Saxonburg with her husband of 70 years, Robert M. Parker. She lived most of her life in Sarver.
Dorothy graduated from Freeport High School in 1939. After raising four daughters, she was employed by the Freeport School District as a cafeteria cook, and she retired as the head cook at Buffalo Elementary School in 1984.
She and her husband spent many winters in Florida where she continued to enjoy swimming, crocheting and spending time with friends and family. When anyone spoke of Dorothy, even in her last days, it was always with memories of how sweet she was and what a wonderful woman she was. Over the years she cared for many of her older family members, including her mother, father-in-law and mother-in-law.
She was a member of the Freeport United Methodist Church where she was involved with her Sunday School Class and United Methodist Women.
She is survived by her husband; four daughters, Patricia (Robert) Seiple of Greenville, Pa., Nancy Balentine of South Buffalo Township, Mary Jane (Paul) Kelly of Saxonburg, and Robin Piper of Mason, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and a brother, William (Mildred) Macurdy of Freeport.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
She will be sadly missed by all who knew her, but they will always have their pleasant memories of her.
