Woman accused of burglary, sneaker theft
The other shoe just dropped for a Zelienople woman accused of stealing sneakers from a Butler City residence and profiting from them, police said.
Sierrah M. Altenburg, 18, was charged Sunday with felony burglary and two counts of misdemeanor theft for an incident that occurred Jan. 20.
Police said they responded to an alarm activation at a residence on South Cliff Street around 1:20 p.m. The front door was unlocked, and officers did not observe any suspicious activity. Officers said they locked the door and returned to service.
Around 5 p.m., the owner of the house said a number of designer shoes were missing from his residence, and that security footage showed a woman leaving the house with shoe boxes around 1:47 p.m. Police later identified the woman as Altenburg, the affidavit said.
Police said it was discovered that Altenburg had sold eight pairs of Nike and Air Jordan shoes to Branded in Butler on Main Street around 2 p.m. that same day. The total amount received for the shoes was $750.
Altenburg is scheduled to appear Feb. 13 for a preliminary hearing before District Judge William Fullerton.
