Butler VA invites women veterans to attend heart health events
The Butler VA Health Care System will hold two free events in February for women veterans as part of American Heart Month.
Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of women, but can be prevented with education and healthy lifestyle changes, according to a news release from the Butler VA.
A Go Red event will be held for women veterans from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, at Steele’s Brushes and Ceramics, 1631 N. Main St., Butler.
Participants will make a ceramic heart and hear a presentation on heart health specific to women veterans. Those interested can call 878-271-6484.
The second event is a Heart Health Prevention presentation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, at the Abie Abraham VA Health Care Center’s auditorium, 353 N. Duffy Road, Butler.
There, women veterans will hear a heart health presentation by Dr. Aref Rahman, Butler VA’s chief of staff, followed by a Healthy Teaching Kitchen demonstration.
Women veterans interested in that program can call 878-271-6989.
Women veterans are encouraged to partner with the Butler VA’s Women Veteran program at va.gov.
