OFF AND RUNNINGJavarris James set a record for Miami freshmen by rushing for 148 yards, and the Hurricanes survived an often-sloppy effort in beating previously unbeaten Houston 14-13 Saturday night. James, who eclipsed Clinton Portis' mark of 147 yards set against East Carolina in 1999, had a 1-yard touchdown run for the Hurricanes.
