Frances Brackett
Frances Jean Brackett (Jean), 96, of Butler, died on Jan. 22, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Jan. 7, 1927, in Pittsburgh, and was the daughter of the late Albert E. Worsley Sr. and Anna E. Hawthorne Worsley.
Jean graduated from Butler High School in 1945.
She met William Francis Brackett (Bill) upon his return from service as a U.S. Marine during World War II. They were married on Valentine’s Day in 1947. Jean and Bill enjoyed a 61-year love affair, during which time they built two homes to raise their family, spent many weekends boating with family and friends, enjoyed flying their home-built airplane, and generally delighted in life together. She was deeply loved and will be deeply missed.
Jean and Bill founded and operated Brackett Machine Co., serving the global specialty steel industry for over 50 years, and a business which continues successfully today.
Jean, a cheerful, loving, and generous mother and grandmother, was devoted to her family, strong in her faith, and enthusiastic about life. She relished family gatherings and quality time with her grandchildren. A passionate bridge player, Jean was awarded Life Master status from the American Contract Bridge League in 2000.
She is survived by two sons, Timothy A. Brackett and his wife, Karen, of Butler, and James M. Brackett and his wife, Angela, of Grove City; two daughters, Ronna M. Drennen and her husband, Dr. James K. Drennen III, of Mars, and Jean Cunningham and her husband, Dan Cunningham, of Butler; nine grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Brackett; and her brothers, James and Albert Worsley.
