Velma Lucille “Lucy” McCandless
Velma Lucille “Lucy” McCandless, 87, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Grove City, died at 7:10 a.m. Sunday at the First Community Village in Columbus following a brief illness.
Born Dec. 21, 1928, in West Sunbury, she was the daughter of John Braden Tinker and Florence A. Graham Tinker. She married Robert T. “Obie” McCandless on Nov. 12, 1955, and he died April 12, 2007.
Mrs. McCandless was a homemaker. She was a member of the Center Presbyterian Church in Grove City, and she enjoyed baking, gardening, sewing, crocheting and quilting.
She is survived by four children, Lesley A. McCandless of Columbus, John A. McCandless, Robert E. McCandless and his wife, Laurie, and Scott C. McCandless, all of Grove City; and three grandchildren, Mallory, Nichole and Cody McCandless.
Lucy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers, Frank and John Tinker.
MCCANDLESS — Visitation hours for Velma Lucille “Lucy” McCandless, who died Sunday, March 13, 2016, will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Cunningham Funeral Home, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. David Lingle officiating. Burial will take place at the Union Home Cemetery, Grove CityMemorials in Lucy's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
