Kirby Zimmel
Kirby Zimmel, 57, of Valley Stream, N.Y., passed away Saturday, Aug. 19, in Brooklyn, N.Y. of natural causes following a brief illness.
Born in Butler, Sept. 12, 1959, he was the son of William and Joyce (Blymiller) Zimmel of Chambersburg, Pa.
He was a graduate of Vorhees High School and Robert Morris University.
Following ownership of a restaurant in Pittsburgh, he moved to New York City to further practice his culinary skills. At the time of his death, he was manager of a Panera Bread in Manhattan.
Kirby enjoyed traveling with family and friends and shall be very much missed by that same family and friendship circle.
He is survived by his parents; his wife, Faina; a son, Matthew (Helen) Zimmel; a daughter, Audra (friend Shawn) Zimmel; a brother, Rob (Kathy) Zimmel and their children, Rory and Zach; his uncle, William (Linda) Blymiller, and aunt, Kathy Blakesee; and numerous cousins.
Kirby also is survived by a stepson, Henry (Natalie) Bogdanov; a stepdaughter, Larisa (Ian) Goldwin; and four step-grandchildren, Sam and Jenni Bogdanov, and Levi and Aron Goldwin.
His father was a well- known resident of Butler in earlier years as well as his mother, Joyce, being a Parker City resident, until they both made their residence in Chambersburg, Pa.
