2 sent to hospital after SR crash
SLIPPERY ROCK — A crash between a truck and a sedan at about 11:56 a.m. Tuesday on South Main Street in Slippery Rock sent two people to the hospital.
Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire and EMS crews were dispatched to the crash where the two drivers needed medical attention.
A man driving south along Main Street had a medical emergency that caused him to lose control of his truck and strike a sedan driven by a woman who was driving north, according to Slippery Rock Fire Chief Ryan Hanchosky.
Hanchosky said the truck spun around from the impact and stopped resting against the rail of the Ginger Hill Tavern.
He said the type of medical emergency was unknown. He said the man did not appear to have any physical injury from the crash but continued to exhibit symptoms from his medical emergency.
“He didn't have any apparent injuries from the crash,” Hanchosky said.
While crews prepared the man in the truck for transport to Butler Memorial Hospital, firefighters found the door of the woman's sedan pressed in toward the woman, entrapping her.
“We used the extrication tools to pop her door off,” Hanchosky said.
Hanchosky said the woman was transported with minor injuries to Butler Memorial Hospital.
Slippery Rock Borough Police were also on the scene.
Police had shut down Main Street for about 30 minutes until the scene was cleared.
