Devin Kirk
In memory of Devin Kirk
A year ago today was the last I saw you May 30, 2013. My big gentle giant.
We traveled many miles together, shared some crazy stories, laughed a lot, cried some too, and jammed to “Dancing Queen” and Vince Gill.” On the morning of June 18th, 2013, I heard that you were gone. I was in total disbelief. My heart broke that day. You were looking so forward to your “Senior Year” we could all see it.
It all started at Pie Fest when your football team held your jersey high then to Senior Night when every football player had some kind of memory about Captain Kirk.
Your family made it through the year of the firsts GOD Bless them all.
When I spoke at your funeral it was one of the hardest things I have ever done but I knew you were smiling and thinking “Karen Sue you got this” as you would say to me on a slippy morning trying to get to school. We had a lot of those this school year and I knew you were watching over C-273 to make sure the bus and Halie & Kyle were safe.
We have all missed you and all the hunting stories. Your big night would be coming up, Graduation, the night you were waiting for before GOD called you home. I will now take down your pictures and your black ribbon from C-273. May you rest easy my gentle giant until we see each other again you will never be forgotten.
