Peffer

Robert D. “Bob” Peffer, 95, formerly of Harmony, left this world in the early morning hours of Dec. 10, 2022. Having completed his mission, taking care of his wife of 73 years, and his quest, making it to his 95th birthday, he joined his wife, Ruth, his family and lifelong friends in Heaven.

He was born Nov. 20, 1927, in Wilkinsburg, and was a son of the late Dwight and Aleene Peffer.

Bob spent his later childhood in Harmony. He graduated from Zelie-Ann High in 1947, after returning from the U.S. Navy.

He was a carpenter by trade, working on and building many homes in the area. When he became interested in chainsaws, he and his wife opened Bob Peffer’s Lawn and Garden Shop, where he became well-known for chainsaws, lawn mowers and snowmobiles.

Always the “Mountain Man” for his love of hunting and fishing, he saw his opportunity to move to Colorado in 1983. There, he returned to his trade as a carpenter, being sought after for his talents. He was most proud of the work he did building and remodeling Lake George Church, where he and Ruth were members for many years. Retiring at age 82, he continued to build log furniture until his supplies ran out at age 92.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his sons, Wayne (Diana) Peffer and Dennis (Cindy) Peffer; his daughters, Kae Peffer, Susan (Dane) Sarver and Cindy (Roger) Flugher; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; his little sister, Dorthy Preuhs of Georgia; his brother-in-law, Rich (Helen) Cable of Ohio; many nieces and nephews; and the special care givers of Canon City Lodge … many THANKS.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Cable Peffer; his brother, Jack Peffer; and his sister, Betty McCabe.

PEFFER — Private arrangements for Robert D. “Bob” Peffer, who died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2022, have been entrusted to HOLT FAMILY FUNERAL HOME in Canon City, Colo.

A celebration of life for both Bob and Ruth will be held later this year. The date is to be determined.
