The Karns City Area girls 10-and-under all-star softball team won the Center Township Tournament recently.

Team members included Kierra Sybert, Alex Boyle, Ashlyn Landgraf, Autumn Earley, Torrie Lee Chapman, Sabrina Johns, Katelyn Williams, Kylie Laughery, Lauren Downs, Kara Kerschbaumer and Cassie Hiles.

Coaches were Gary Landgraf, Bob Downs and Rick Johns.

Sarah Arsenault, Lauren Steele and Sarah Mangarielli each tallied to goals to help the Slippery Rock University women's soccer team stop Gannon 7-0 in the season opener for both teams Friday.Christy Czapor accounted for The Rock's other goal while goalie Karrine Riggins made 10 saves to earn the shutout.

Seneca Valley graduate Brian Stoecklein had two hits, two RBI and scored a run Friday to help the Washington Wild Things improve to 61-32 on the season by defeating Kalamazoo 10-7.

The Seneca Valley girls golf team improved to 2-0 with its 199-226 victory over Mars (0-2) Friday.
