Yalshevec

Stephen P. Yalshevec, 95, of Butler, passed away on Jan. 10, 2023.

He was born Jan. 26, 1927, and was a son of the late Victor and Anne (Senko) Yalshevec. He was one of 10 children and grew up in Lyndora with many family and friends.

Steve was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in World War II. Upon returning to Butler, Steve worked at Pullman Standard and then went to design and drafting school. Steve had various jobs in that field, the longest was in the Cleveland area with a division of Union Carbide, where he retired at age 55.

Steve enjoyed fishing, the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers above the Cleveland Browns, Arizona trips to see his brother Joe, playing on the Lyndora Hornets football team in his youth, and seeing his family.

He was a member of All Saints Parish for many years, and was a key person in the construction of the hall at the American Legion Post 778 in Lyndora.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Mary Yovanovich, Ann Redick, Frances Homa, Frank Yalshevec, Joseph Yalshevec, Helen Delaney, Sophie Homa, Olga Yalshevec and Rosella Yalshevec.

Steve is survived by several nieces and nephews.

YALSHEVEC — Friends of Stephen P. Yalshevec, who died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Conrad Roman Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road, Meridian.

Interment with military honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Butler.
