BUFFALO TWP — Freeport High School will stage the musical “Little Women” at 7:30 p.m. March 22, 23 and 24 at the school, 625 S. Pike Road.

Based on Louisa May Alcott’s 1868 novel, “Little Women” focuses on the four March sisters — brassy, aspiring writer Jo, romantic Meg, pretentious Amy and kind-hearted Beth at home in Concord, Mass., while the family patriarch is away during the Civil War. Woven in with the vignettes in which their lives unfold are several recreations of the melodramatic short stories Jo writes.

The book is by Allan Knee, lyrics by Mindi Dickstein and music by Jason Howland.

The show is directed and produced by Thomas Koharchik.

Robert Harris is the assistant director and vocal coach, Chaz Shipman is pit orchestra and music director and Sara Sypolski is the choreographer.

Greg Adams is technical adviser and stage manager, while Meggan McGuire serves as directing assistant.

McKenna Cordier is student director and Ashley Larabee is properties master.
