Gerald Lee Knight, 65, of Volant, Washington Township, Lawrence County, died at 8:13 p.m. Saturday at UPMC Shadyside, Pittsburgh.

Born Aug. 2, 1945, in Upper Glades, W.Va., he was the son of Albert Boyd “Pap” Knight and Myrtle Goldie Morris.

He worked for 33 years at Sharon Building Systems of West Middlesex, which later became Corle Building Systems, until his disability in 1998.

He was a Protestant.

He enjoyed playing guitar and singing country music. Family was of the utmost importance to him, and what he loved most was playing with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed watching Fox News.

Surviving are a son, Michael L. Knight and his sons of New Castle; two daughters, Jemi M. Knight-Peterson, her husband, Marc, and their daughter, Paije, of Volant and Tasha L.K. Anterock, her husband, Jeff, and their sons, Christian and Holdin of New Castle; a sister, Bonnie M. (Joseph) DeCaria of Ellwood City; two brothers, Orville “Bud” K. (Nina) Knight of Dille, W.Va., and Paul “Junior” (Shirley) Knight of Rising Sun, Md.; three sisters-in-law, Carrie F., Darlene L., and Pearl E. Knight; and a brother-in law, Eugene E Kyer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Agnes Mae Waters “Granny” Knight; four brothers, Charles E., Gordon E., William B. and James B. Knight; five sisters, Evelyn R. Bennett, Ruby L. Thompson, Hazel M. Detamore, Betty C. Martin and Dorothy L. Kyer; two half-brothers, James R. and Leonard W. Knight; four brothers-in-law, Frank F. Bennett, Paul B. Thompson, Richard Detamore and Lonnie Martin; and two sisters-in-law, Vera M. and Pauline K. Knight

<B>KNIGHT </B>— Services for Gerald Lee Knight, who died Saturday, March 12, 2011, will be at the <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Pastor Steve Clulow of the Cochranton Community Church officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Interment will be at the North Plain Grove Cemetery, Lawrence County.
