Paul C. Swope, 98, of Blacktown Road, Grove City, Springfield Township, Mercer County, passed away at 4:18 a.m. Tuesday at the Grove City Medical Center.

He was born in Butler County on Jan. 24, 1915, to the late David John Swope and Dora Keefer Swope.

He married Mary Blanche Cross on Sept. 9, 1940, and she died March 7, 1998.

He retired from SETEC of Grove City as a laborer. He graduated from Grove City High School in 1933. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and playing the harmonica.

He is survived by two daughters, Twila Ruth Knight and Joyce Ann Palm, both of Springfield Township; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one granddaughter, one grandson, six sisters and five brothers.

SWOPE — Friends of Paul C. Swope, who passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2013, will be welcomed at the Smith Funeral Home, 1778 Perry Highway, Volant, Pa., from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday.A service will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Ed Dixon, pastor of Grove City Alliance Church. Burial will be in Crestview Memorial Park, Grove City.
