Man charged for kicking, threatening officers
A domestic incident turned violent toward police and resulted in charges for a Butler man last week, according to documents.
Kittanning state police charged Steven T. Guthrie, 41, with felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor resisting arrest and five counts of misdemeanor terroristic threats for a Jan. 6 incident.
As of Jan. 7, Guthrie is being held in Butler County Prison in lieu of a $100,000 bail.
Police said they responded at 11:01 p.m. on Jan. 6 in Oakland Township for a domestic dispute. Guthrie was one of the involved parties questioned by police.
According to charging documents, Guthrie became aggressive and uncooperative with officers, poking a trooper in the chest and ignoring instructions. He then “aggressively” tried to move troopers and continued ignoring commands.
Police said they brought Guthrie to the ground where he continued resisting arrest. He then spit on one trooper, and began kicking another in the leg.
Guthrie also threatened to kill all five troopers responding on scene during the incident, according to documents.
Guthrie’s preliminary hearing before District Judge Lewis Stoughton is scheduled for Jan. 17.
