What we thought we knew we really didn't know.

You know?

As I mentioned last week, there are so many unknowns when it comes to high school football teams in early September.

We got a little bit of clarity on some fronts and a whole lot of questions on others.

I went 9-4 last week. Not great, but not bad considering all of those before-mentioned unknowns.

Let's see if I can do better this week:

Butler 23, Baldwin 21 — The Golden Tornado failed to come away with a win over Altoona.

Butler ran all over the Highlanders last year, but Baldwin threw all over the Tornado.

Still not sure what to make of Tuffy's boys, but I think they'll beat Baldwin.

Seneca Valley 33, Fox Chapel 17 — Ah, those Raiders. They are trending up. They nearly knocked off North Allegheny in the late morning Saturday.

Seneca Valley should knock off Fox Chapel this week.

Knoch 22, Greensburg Salem 21 — The Knights didn't have the best start of the season, getting only a safety last week.

I think Knoch is better than that and will double up its deuces this week.

Mars 30, Armstrong 16 — We always know what Mars is all about. Running the football.

Er, except the Planets threw a little last week.

Armstrong we know little about because this is only its second game ever — a consolidation of Kittanning and Ford City.

I know enough to know that you never bet against a Fightin' Planet.

Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic 44, Chartiers-Houston 13 — I know the Trojans will win.

Freeport 38, Summit Academy 16 — Freeport's offense is fun. Summit Academy can score on defense and special teams, it seems.

The Yellowjackets will score more.

Karns City 37, Redbank Valley 18 — Thunder (Mav Kelsea) and lightning (Collin Dunmyre) will be at it again, minus the delay.

Moniteau 22, Clarion-Limestone 11 — The Warriors threw 25 passes and kicked a field goal, so I have no idea what to expect.

Greenville 21, Slippery Rock 12 — The Rockets have won 20 straight region games, but Greenville is determined to end that streak and avenge its only regular-season loss in 2014.

Grove City 30, Corry 20 — I do know Eagles' quarterback Kam Patterson is a beast and he has a speedy target in Nick Davies.

Brookville 22, Union 16 — Brookville has some weapons, the Raiders just couldn't block Karns City last week.

Union could be in for a difficult matchup.

St. Marys 37, A-C Valley 6 — The Flying Dutch should soar against the Falcons.

Scoop can't go 13-0 this week because there are only 12 games. 12-0 would be cool, though.
