Seneca Valley graduate Brian Stoecklein had three hits and stole a base over the weekend as the Washington Wild Things swept a doubleheader from Florence, 2-1 and 8-2, to clinch a Frontier League playoff berth.Stoecklein batted second and played second base in both games.

John Aubrey Sr. of Aubrey's Dubbs Dred Golf Course is tied for seventh place after the first day of the Christopher J. Seretti Memorial Golf Classic at Montour Heights Country Club in Coraopolis Monday.Aubrey fired a 34-37-71 to tie Ned Weaver of Southpointe Golf Course.Brad Westfall of Tygart Lake Golf Course leads the field of 36 golfers entering today's final round. His 33-33-66 round gives him a three-shot lead over four others.

Pat Roberts, a 2002 graduate of Grove City College, was named an assistant coach with the men's basketball program at Thiel College.Roberts was a second-team All-PAC selection as a junior and first team as a senior. He served as a team captain both years.He played in 101 consecutive games with the Wolverines, never missing a contest. He finished with 792 points and 685 rebounds.Roberts is a biology teacher at Jamestown High School. He was an assistant boys basketball coach for the team last year.

Jean Bandura of Butler on 113-yard, No. 12 hole Saturday at Boulder Creek Golf Course in Streetsboro, Ohio. She used an 11-wood.Israel Barkley on 138-yard, No. 5 hole Sunday at Krendale North course, with an 8-iron.
