Kenneth J. Smith, 61, of Howard, Centre County, died Saturday at his home.

Born Jan. 12, 1946, in DuBois, Clearfield County, he was a son of the late Jessie Elwood and Dorothy Mae Noal Smith.

He was a graduate of Butler High School. He served in the Marine Corps from Jan. 9, 1964, to Sept. 12, 1969, as an airborne radio operator during the Vietnam War and earned the rank of sergeant.

Mr. Smith worked as a service manager for the Best Line Equipment Co.

He was an avid hunter, fisherman and Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed fly-tying.

He married Barbara Ann Deary, May 27, 1972. She survives along with a daughter, Andrea Smith and her husband, Scott Lingle of Howard; a son, Kevin Smith and his wife, Jennifer, of Julian, Centre County, and their two children, Dylan and Dru; two sisters, and six brothers.
