Ricky L. “Rick” “Bud” Allison passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 2, 2023, under the care of Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot.

Rick was born May 17, 1958, to Richard “Lee” Allison and Mae Grossman Allison.

Raised in Slippery Rock, Rick graduated from Slippery Rock High School in 1976. Over the years after his graduation, Rick worked at various jobs throughout the area, including Valu King and Allegheny Mineral.

Rick enjoyed pitching horseshoes, bowling, riding his motorcycle, and visiting family and friends. As a young man, he was skilled at drawing and sketching. He also raced motorcycles and lawn tractors, and he belonged to the Archery Club in Boyers.

People who knew Rick will remember him as a kind and gentle man who could always be seen with his favorite drink in hand, “Mtn. Dew.” Rick had a special charisma and could light up a room with his smile. He was an amazing pool player.

Rick’s greatest love was his children. He was so proud of both of them and cherished the time they spent together.

Rick is survived by two children, Abraham Allison of Texas and Abigail Allison of Pennsylvania; his mother, Mae Allison; two sisters, Cindy (Ron) Taggart and Brenda (Carl) Shilling; four nephews, Travis (Megan) Taggart, Jared McFadden, Jacob Shilling and Alex Shilling; his great-niece, Rylan Taggart; his great-nephew, Reed Taggart; many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins from the Allison and Grossman families; and many wonderful friends.

Rick was preceded in death by his father, Lee Allison; his grandparents; and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.

ALLISON — The family of Ricky L. “Rick” “Bud” Allison, who died Monday, Jan. 2, 2023, will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 20, 2023, at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.

A celebration of life will be observed at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 20, 2023, at the funeral home.

Interment in Slippery Rock Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Slippery Rock Fire and Rescue Team, 162 Elm St., Slippery Rock, PA 16057.
